Surakarsa Soldiers
Their duty was to guard Prince Adipati Anom (Royal Prince) when the “Grebeg” ceremony was held. They protected the “Gunungan” in the back row. Their flag is recognised as “Pare Anom”.
Nyutro Soldiers
Not as a war soldier, one of their duties and responsibilities were as a tamping guard in the ceremony. They also ensured the safety of the king if he got in throne. These soldiers should be talented in dancing. Besides, they must meet some criterias, such as; slim body, fair skin, and a knight soul inside. Their flag is famously known as “Padang Ngisep Sari”.
Patangpuluhan Soldiers
There were only 40 soldiers altogether. However, they have extraordinary courage, respite, and power. They were reliable on the war field. “Cokroboyo” is their flag.

Wirobrojo Soldiers
They were the front-liners during the war. They were also known as “Lombok Abang” (Red Chilli) because they wore the red color hat. Their flag’s name is “Gula Klapa”.
Mantrijero Soldiers
They were one of the palace ministers who also acted as judge. Their duty was to guard the Sultan (King of Java) when “Jumenengan Dalem Nata”. The flag’s name is “Purnomo Sidi”.
Daheng Soldiers
They came from Sulawesi. They were Sulawesinese who became the Dutch prisoners. They were being isolated in Java Island and took the aristocratic surname in Sulawesi same with the lord surname in Java. The flag’s name is “Baning Sari”.
Prawirotomo Soldiers
They were the most powerful soldiers. When Prince Mangkubumi attacked the Dutch with ±1000 soldiers, they always won in every fighting. The flag’s name: “Geni Raga”.
Jogokaryo Soldiers
Their role was as a “Tunggak Kemit” in the ceremony. They should be prepared should there be any unexpected cases happened. They were expected to deal with them properly. The flag’s name: “Papasan”.
Bugis Soldiers
They came from Sulawesi. Their role was to guard “Pepatih Dalem” in the “Kepatihan” during the Dutch colonization. Their presence did not include the authority of “Pengageng Kawedanan” soldier palace. Currently, they are working as a “Gunungan”’s guard when the “Grebeg” ceremony is held. The flag’s name: “Wulandadari”.
Ketanggung Soldiers
The Soldiers were responsible of security in the palace, worked in the prosecution, and also guarded the Sultan (King of Java) when he visited to outside the palace. The flag’s name: “Cokro Swandono”.
Dari rincian di atas, sepertinya ada hubungannya dengan nama jalan-jalan di Jogja, misal jogokaryo –> jokokaryan(kampung paling religius yang aku temui di jogja), patangpuluhan –> jalan patangpuluhan(pojok beteng kulon ke barat,… moga ndak bingung membacanya), prawirotomo –> jl, prawirotaman (tempatnya turi-turis bule nginep di Jogja, jarenya sih buat yang medium class, kalo yang backoper backpacker tahulah di mana…), mantrijero –> mantrijeron, bugis –> bugisan, wirobrojo–>wirobrajan. Kalau diperhatikan lebih lanjut, dan diasumsikan bahwa nama jalan tersebut karena pada jamannya prajurit-prajurit tersebut bertempat tinggal sesuai daerah yang terwakili namanya sekarang, maka letaknya berada persis di luar beteng. Nha, ada yang tahu prajurut yang lain di mana?
